Sessional Lecturer at UVIC (2021-2023)

  • I’ve loved being able to explore movement from youth soccer to varsity competitive swimming, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to ultra-running (both as amateur as you can be…) and much more.

I've run the Grizzly Ultra with my brother, best friend, and my beautiful wife, spontaneously ran around my house for 12 hours to cope with boredom, and even once ran 100 miles through Gowlland Tod park solo for “fun”.

However, probably like you, my journey has had its bumps. I still remember the Achilles issues that forced me to stop playing soccer at ten years old and the shoulder injury from swimming that restricted me from lifting my arms to drive - let alone swim.

Avoiding the Achilles issue never solved my problem and my childhood injury persisted. I “rested it” for over 10 years and when I decided to race an Ironman after retiring from swimming it took me over two years of rehab to finally run without pain.

Every injury, whether by misfortune or stubbornness, has thrown a wrench into my life. But, I never really wanted to "rest and wait" because I didn't want to miss the activities I love.

Injuries taught me to rehab, not rest.

Now, I take my training and experience and use it to help others like YOU feel great and move well so you don’t have to miss out on the experiences you love either.
